How We Make Money
Last updated June 7, 2026
BullTraders.com is free to read. We pay for it primarily through affiliate commissions. We think you deserve to know exactly how that works, so here it is in plain language.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a tracked link to a partner’s website. If you click one of our affiliate links and later sign up or buy, the partner may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and in many cases our links carry the same or better discounts than going direct.
How we cloak links
Every commercial outbound link on this site points to our own redirect first, in the form /go/{name}. That redirect runs at the edge and forwards you to the partner. We do this for three reasons:
- Transparency. Affiliate links are clearly labelled as affiliate links wherever they appear.
- Stability. If a partner changes its tracking URL, we update it in one place instead of editing every page.
- Privacy. Raw tracking parameters do not sit in the page you read; the redirect adds them only at click time.
When a link is an affiliate link, you will see it marked as such. When we do not have an approved partnership with a company, we still link to it, but as a plain outbound link with no commission attached.
The firewall between money and ratings
This is the part that matters most: commission never affects our scores, rankings, or recommendations.
- Our scores come from a documented methodology applied the same way to every product, whether or not we earn from it.
- A company cannot pay to rank higher, to remove a weakness from a review, or to be recommended.
- We review and rank companies we have no affiliate relationship with, and we will say when a popular product is not worth your money even if we earn from it.
If a partnership ever conflicts with an honest assessment, the assessment wins. A review that bends to a commission is worthless to you, and a reader who stops trusting us is worth nothing to us.
What we do not do
- We do not take payment to publish a review.
- We do not let partners preview or edit our reviews.
- We do not hide that a link is an affiliate link.
